Last year I got made redundant of November the 14th. This year I get made redundant on November the 16th.

If I wasn't so utterly saddened and gutted it'd almost be funny.

Still working my ass off for this new firm and it seems to be going ok. Havent worked with most of the firm yet but those I've met so far seem ok, apart from the ones who are nobs but they both seem to be electricians so I cant blame them for being fuckin' nubs.

Start my new job tomorrow, I'm pretty excited. I used to enjoy my job working on sites so it'll be good to get back on them again after a 9 month break.. last one I worked on was in November before I got laid off.

I keep saying it I know but that's because I bloody mean it, It's STILL my ambition to get up to Aberdeen but until I can score an offshore gig staying back in Plymouth will be better then working in that arsehole yard in Portsmouth.

Anyways it'll only be a 4 day week because It's ONLY FUCKING AYA ON FRIDAY! I'll be driving up thursday after work so I'll be there about 9-10ish in the evening. I'm bloody well excited to see all of Team Amaaaaaaaaazing and all you other lovely sexy people again. It's gonna be ace! :D

Booga booga
So I had my interview in Southampton friday morning and I'd like to think it went pretty well. I have the experience and knowledge theyre after and I hit them with some answers to a couple of questions that were straight outta left field.. I've never been asked whet I think my strengths and weakneses are before. I think I handled it well though. I just told the truth and said "I'm not interested in getting any other reputation then a good one".
They said it'll be a couple weeks before I hear from them so we'll see how that plans out..

ALSO, on my drive back friday afternoon I get a call from a guy in an engineering firm in Plymouth that I'd applied for asking me when I'd next be in the local area, so i said "Er, in about an hour!" so I gets home, get another call from the guy and he asks me in for an interview the next day which. "Man" I thought "They must be keen if they went me to come in for an interview on a saturday". That went even better, I got on well with the interview guy, again gave some original answers and generally was a dude for the whole hour i was there. That job would be going back to working on sites again but that suits me, Being back home it'd allow me to make and save cash a hell of a lot easier.
He said he'd call me with a decision for sure monday and MAN I cant wait! I feel really confident about that gig as it's pretty much exactly what I was doing before I got laid off and moved away so I already know the score and how things work.

I'd still love to move to Aberdeen and work on the offshore rigs, thats my main ambition and goal in life right now but work for them tends to come in seasons with one starting in March and one starting just now in August.. I shall keep trying at getting on them (shit is NOT easy even with all the right papers believe me) but until then this new gig would be perfect to wait it out.

So yeah, positive things on the horizon maybe okay please thank you?

You'll all know monday what the score is if it's good or bad as i'll either make a YAY or a FUUUCK post

Have a job interview with Palmer Johnson, a pretty big international yacht building firm in Southampton Friday morning. It's still no closer to Aberdeen where I want to be, But if it'll get me out of that arsehole yard in Portsmouth until I can get there I'm all for it

Thank you to those of you who sent me birthday wishes. I just wish I could have had a better day.. going to work all day and then coming home alone to your rented digs was a quite a pathetic thing for me to do.

Always next year, I guess

shit! #2
I'm pretty sure I've not got one of the 3 jobs I went for. Still waiting to hear back from the other two though.

R+M engineering: CV sent 2 weeks ago.. main guy who deals with interviews has just got back from holiday so it'll be however fucking long it takes for him to approve/reject me for further steps.

Enterprise engineering: Waiting on technical drawings before taking on staff. Main go between between myself and them is a woman called Suzanne who works for the recruitment agency that Enterprise use. She's out of the office on holiday until monday, so will have to contact her then.

There still remains some small hope.

Things are worse then I expected.. I have much less money then I previously thought. In fact, I'm already into my overdraft.. it seems like I never got paid for the two weeks I took off.

With no news on the job front until possibly next week things are starting to look bleak indeed. With the minimum amount of spending I can probably afford to stay another week here in Aberdeen and that's it! I'll have to return to Portsmouth on Sunday the 28th.. the day before my birthday.
In fact, sitting around doing nothing all next week waiting for calls probably isn't such a smart idea.. I really should head back this weekend.

Its completely fucking vital I get some news next week else I'm utterly fucked!

I didn't know things were going to be this hard.

I'm an idiot.

Man this game sucks
I've had some potential good news about a job here in Aberdeen. On monday I contacted an agency I've been dealing with about a couple of onshore roles as offshore gigs are still pretty thin on the ground for newbie scrotes like myself. This one particular firm is apparently interested in taking me on for an 8 month, possibly permanent at the end of that contract however they have the tools and the materials just not the technical drawings and schematics they need. They're hoping to have those in this week or possibly the week after.. either way I just have to wait for them to get hold of me for when they want me. The wait is currently fucking KILLING me!

My two weeks official booked off holiday ran out as of Friday so this week, and perhaps next week I've called in sick. It's a bit of a gamble but I'm hoping it'll pay off.

I keep checking my e-mails and phone every 5 minutes just in case I've heard from any of the other companies I've applied for. No news yet but again I'm hoping something will happen in the near future. Even if it's a rejection letter I'd be happy knowing that it's reached a final conclusion and I can stop worrying about it.

This waiting games shit! I try to keep myself busy to not seem like an even bigger drain on my hosts who have been very kind to let me stay this long. I've not been working out or exercising since I've been here either so i MUST start that again tomorrow. I dont have my weights with me here but some crunches, push ups and the like are still going to be better then nothing.

I REALLY REALLY REALLY hope I have some proper bloody news to report this week, I'm really not keen on going back to work in the south empty handed if at all! I NEED this! else it'll all have been a waste of time and effort. FUCK THAT!! I'm gonna land something and it's gonna be fucking bastard well ace! I HAVE to!

First thing this morning I went for my offshore medical inspection. It's the second and last thing I need to be able to go and work out on the rigs in the north sea. It was fairly straight forward stuff with a hearing, sight, urine, lung capacity and a blood pressure test. No, the not-very-attractive-if-I'm-honest-female-doctor didn't stick anything up my arse but she did hold my balls and make me cough. :P. Whadda ya know? I'm in perfect health. Who could have guessed.

I met with Hays, the recruitment company later in the afternoon here in Aberdeen to discuss putting me forwards for a few positions here. Turns out one of the firms is called Enterprise Engineering and they're a pretty big ass and well know firm so I'm looking forward to speaking to them. Whilst I'd ideally like an offshore gig this firm does most of their work onshore in their own workshop facility but has an offshore repairs section too so I'll let them know I'd be very much interested in joining that if possible. The dude who's meant to be in charge of their HR dept is away until Wednesday so I should hear from him then. Hopefully he'll want me in for an interview this week. :)

I got an e-mail friday afternoon back from one of the 300 odd firms I sent my CV to asking me to get in contact with them so I rang them this morning and they also want me in for an interview, 10am tomorrow morning to be exact so that's another stroke of good luck. They're a smaller engineering firm but still, they want me in for an interview so I cant turn them down.

All in all, another bloody good Aberdonian monday. :D
